Why I Became a Travel Advisor...
Many people thought it was insane I was leaving the oil and gas industry (especially while living in Houston!) to become a Travel Advisor. In order to provide a little clarity and a glimpse into my new journey, here are a few reasons why I decided to take a leap of faith and become a Travel Advisor...
1. Because I'm obsessed with travel
But really... I am! Nothing excites me more than learning about a new destination. I become fully engrossed in the process to learn the most I can about any new "hot spot". My husband always jokes with me that I would send him ridiculous itineraries to my wish list vacations complete with every activity and restaurant we'd enjoy. One time I even sent him a 45 day itinerary! I knew that if I could overlap my passion with my career, I'd be successful and happy!
2. Because I love connecting with others
Neck and neck with my love for travel is my love to connect with others. I am so intrigued by others' backgrounds and cultures. I truly believe getting to know many people from different walks of life will help you become a more well rounded person. I strive to push conversations beyond "acquaintances" and try to become friends with almost everyone I meet. This new career path will allow me to expand my network, get to know people I may not have known otherwise and build relationships that could last for years and years.
3. Because I believe you'll always be successful if you follow your passion
How can you fail if what you're doing is what you love to do? Combining planning + connecting + research + execution is what I was made to do, and the fact that I am able to begin this career in the travel industry is the icing on the cake. When you love what you do, you never "work" a day in your life.
