Blaire's Been: Mustique

I recently went on a FAM trip (aka a familiarization trip) with one of my favorite partners that involved a stop in Mustique before ending the trip in St Lucia. To be completely honest, I did not have much interest in visiting Mustique. Quite frankly, I didn't understand it and felt it was a place I'd never sell. BUT let me tell you... this island is incredible, and I'm now obsessed with it!

You fly to St Lucia (UVF), bypass the massive security lines then take a short, 30 minute propeller flight over St Vincent and the Grenadines. It's a gorgeous, scenic and quick flight.

The best way to explore the island is by golf cart. The island is pretty small - 3 miles long by 1 mile wide. You can certainly walk/run the entire island or spend a morning on its many hiking trails, but the golf cart is very fun and most efficient!

There are also a bunch of beaches to explore with varying terrain. Some beaches are wide and sandy and some are nestled between hillsides that look like you're on a completely different island.

There are a few dining options on this island, too, with the most notable being Basil's Bar. This bar's lively scene is the perfect place for a nightcap and is where you can likely rub shoulders with some celebs. There is oftentimes live music, and Basil's Bar is definitely the gathering spot on the island. But in addition to the dining spots, you can certainly enjoy a lovely meal in your villa!

This island is comprised of 125 villas, 85 of which are rentable, and a cute boutique hotel called Cotton House.

Villas

I toured MANY villas - from smaller, 3 bedroom villas to those owned by celebrities or royalty! Each villa is completely unique from its décor to its location on the island. You can get anything from coastal with bright colors to sophisticated and decorated with whites and neutrals to ultra modern. Also, these villas range from being on the water/beach to perched in the hillside. My favorite villas are the ones with a view!

Each villa comes with staff - butler, chef and cleaning service - who will likely become your new besties by the time you leave. Everyone is SO nice and accommodating. Another feature about the villas that I love is that you receive 2 beach picnics per week you stay in a villa. You will reserve your picnic space and will have a private beach at your disposal for a fun, fully catered lunch and dip in the ocean. I personally enjoyed a beach picnic, and it was suuuuper special!!

Of course BPK Travel is here to help select the villa that works best with what you're looking for!

Cotton House

Cotton House is the boutique resort on the island. This is a great anchor for your first stay in Mustique, especially if you don't need a big villa. This resort is centrally located and has a beautiful beach on property. If you choose to stay here, I certainly would recommend renting a golf cart so you can experience Mustique in its fullest.

This hotel is decorated in bright, coastal colors. I stayed in a two bedroom with a private plunge pool and great views of the ocean and hilltops.

Cotton House is also home to a weekly happy hour that invites guests from all villas to meet in its common space to mix and mingle. It's so fun to interact with different villa and hotel guests. It truly adds to the camaraderie of the island, which is something I LOVE!

Basically... Mustique has been one of the biggest surprises of my career. I absolutely fell in love with this AMAZING island and want to bring all of my friends back for a week of amazing beaches, great food and FUN!
